June 7th, 2023. A wakeup call to millions as dense, yellow smoke covered most of the tri-state area due to wildfires in Canada. As a filmmaker, I knew I had to release this film as soon as humanly possible to spread awareness about our climate crisis.
In this short documentary, we bring attention to the summer 2022 wildfires that burned their way through our state parks in The Hudson Valley. This one hits close to home, as New Paltz students, and as New Yorkers. Wildfires will become more and more prevalent globally, and on the East Coast due to rising temperatures, and historic drought. We follow along with a nature loving, long distance backpacker, a park ranger, and a New Paltz Rescue member, as they describe their experience with this massive wildfire. Our mission is to bring awareness to climate change, and how it's closer to the East Coast than you may think.
